What is Restaurant Week?
If you live in South Africa and love to serve your appetite, Restaurant Week is quite a treat. From 22 October to 1 November, some of the best restaurants in the country offer you a tasting menu at a very affordable price. Like a winter special, but at all the best restaurants at the same time! Lunches go from R95 for two courses, and dinners from R175 for three courses. Good deal, right? This initiative allows you to try and explore new places just before the busy season hits. It’s Restaurant Week’s 3rd edition, and last year almost 10.000 people dined at over 100 restaurants.
Where is it?
This year, restaurants in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria and the Winelands are participating. To name all of them would make a very long list, but some noteworthy include personal favourites Mondiall, Rick’s Cafe and Cafe Dijon, Eat Out Top 20’s restaurants Newton Johnson, Planet and The Tasting Room, all the Reuben’s, Jozi hotspots Atrium and OneNineOne and Pretoria’s de Kloof and Black Bamboo.
How does it work?
You can find the restaurants, check out the menus and book your seats through the website of Restaurant Week in advance. You’ll only pay when at the restaurant, but you’ll know in advance what you’re going to get. It’s that simple. So check out the places and what they have on offer!
