Picnic Groot Constantia

Review: Picnic at Groot Constantia (CTFoodChallenge)

Based on the votes and feedback, we decided to visit Groot Constantia as our second picnic contender of the Cape Town Food Challenge with fellow foodie friends InstaEats and ILoveFoodies.

As the wine estate was adamant of treating us to the full Groot Constantia experience, we were given a tour of the cellars and a chocolate and wine pairing before our picnic. We obviously did not object.

Wine Tasting Groot Constantia

The wine and chocolate pairing was my first experience of such a tasting, and definitely added great value. Groot Constantia has some fantastic wines, especially my personal favorite red blend, the Gouverneurs Reserve. I can drink that any day, if my wallet allowed me to enjoy it in equal measure.

The picnic was eventually what we came for, and after some wine pampering we sat down in their gardens to enjoy our baskets of treats. The picnic basket was quite diverse, with cold meats, salads, cheeses and plentiful bread, and an absolutely fulfilling amount. The food wasn’t as spectacular as we perhaps had before, but certainly satisfactory for a lovely day out in the garden, especially combined with some of their top class wines.

Groot Constantia Wine

Groot Constantia is definitely worth the visit, as it has some of the most beautiful scenery, superb wines, and a lovely picnic. The staff is a hosting delight, as they will go out of their way to make sure you have the best experience.

Next week we visit Warwick Wine Estate, so do check us out on social media, here:
