Review: The Tap Room Burgers (CTFoodChallenge)

On the second challenge with InstaEats and iLoveFoodies (You can check our first challenge, here) looking for the best burger in Cape Town, we visited popular vote the Taproom, hosted in the Devil’s Peak Brewery in Woodstock. The Taproom was mentioned a lot by our fans as being one of the best burger spots in the city, so we ventured out to take it to the test.

Smells of beer-brewing hops enter your nostrils whilst arriving at the Tap Room. It is inside a brewery after all, and many beer tasters have wobbled out of here with great satisfaction (except the next morning, of course). How they accompany those crafty beers with food is focused on comfort. We got to experience all of that.


Before even treated to their signature burger, I was given a beer tasting platter with their Devil’s Peak range of craft beers. Quite a way to getting me excited on a weekday afternoon! These were accompanied by some snacks: (very) hot wings, risotto balls and chips.


Although provided with nibbles, I saved most of my appetite for the Green Chili Cheese Burger.


And I was right to do so. The burger, with a beautifully toasted bun (that’s how it should be!), was spicy, cheesy, and delicious. The bun was soft yet firm enough not to drench or fall apart, the patty was plentiful smokey flavor and hot as a Mexican desert. The mayo-ish sauce complimented it perfectly, and I finished the delight in no-time. This was one crafty burger.

So when you decide to get your beer goggles on, pay a visit to the Tap Room and bring along your appetite. This one you don’t want to miss.
